Artist Statement

I am a textile visual artist and creative place maker highly invested in creating community, reimagining place, practicing permaculture, and making accessible spaces. I connect with the community through observation and interaction. I observe the local landscape and native flora, creating soft sculptures based on these observations which then become public interactive soft sculpture installations, free standing soft sculptures, quilts, and mixed media landscapes.

The interactive installation events that I hold quarterly throughout the year are highly popular with intergenerational families, where kids and parents alike can play, while simultaneously learning about native plant life and how we can change our view of the planet.

My work makes the general public, artists, and others reconsider how we approach art. We can connect with art directly, without judgment, full of curiosity and play. We can experience joy with gratitude, play with contemplation, and introspection with the everyday. This radical way of experiencing art is a way to make this field sustainable and generous, opening the artist up to strangers, and strangers to the artist.
